MIPS - Multi-Directional Impact Protection System - This is a system that separates the helmet from the inner lining with a special additional layer placed on flexible hooks. In short, it looks like an additional thin and quite soft layer of artificial material inside the helmet that "slips" slightly. This is where the internal sponges are attached.

This system reduces the forces acting on the cyclist's brain during a fall. MIPS is intended to protect not only against vertical impacts, but also oblique ones, and these are apparently the most dangerous for the head, even when wearing a helmet.
