Every cycling enthusiast knows that the choice of the right tires is of great importance for driving comfort and safety. However, the multitude of products and solutions available on the market means that sometimes we do not know which bicycle tires to choose. That is why we have prepared a short guide that will help you choose the right tires.

Types of bicycle tires

Currently, there are many different bicycle tires on the market, which are designed for fast riding on asphalt, urban, off-road and mountain riding. Therefore, we can divide them into several types due to the thickness of the tyre, the width of the bicycle tire or construction (the so-called folded and wire tires without a rigid structure. Most often, however, bicycle tires are divided into several types due to their tread. These are:

  • smooth tires (slick) - they put up little resistance, which allows you to achieve high speed, but they are distinguished by low grip,

What to consider when choosing tires for a bicycle?

When choosing tires for your bike, it is worth paying attention to a number of parameters and factors that determine whether a given tire will work in our case. Among the extremely important features of a bicycle tire, the following should be mentioned:

  • tire width; remember that it should not be wider or narrower by more than 30% compared to the factory tyres, moreover, the clearance between the tire and the bicycle fork must not be less than 4mm.
  • tire size; should match the circumference of your wheels.
  • tread; bicycle tires with a clear, high tread provide better grip, low tread blocks translate into higher driving speed.

Also remember that when choosing bicycle tires, you should match their type to the model of bicycle you have, the way you ride and the areas on which you move most often.
