Front and Rear DUAL SIS Indexed Gear Shifting

• System components such as the indexing mechanism built into the shifting lever, the frictionless SIS rear index shifting cable and the free-running rear derailleur make up the SHIMANO INDEX SYSTEM. The SIS indexed rear shifting system is also used in the front derailleur. This makes shifting front gears easier and more comfortable.

HyperGlide laces

• The specially designed HYPERGLIDE sprockets feature distinctive shifting ramps and tooth profiles for better chain control during shifting. HG sprockets guide the chain quickly and directly to the next sprocket without overloading. Conventional sprockets cause the chain to rise and pass over the sprocket teeth before selecting the sprocket.

Top Normal

• The top normal rear derailleurs are traditional spring-loaded derailleurs. RAPIDFIRE Plus users prefer the faster response time of the top normal rear derailleurs as this allows faster downshifts. Cyclists for whom quick response is more important appreciate the ability to downshift with the strongest finger, i.e. the thumb.

Double Servo-Panta mechanism

• The guide pulley positions the sprocket close to the sprockets as it moves forward and backward, optimizing each gear shift. This makes shifting gears even more precise.

MEGARANGE gear ratio

• The 34-tooth MegaRange crown provides a super-low gear ratio that allows you to effortlessly pedal up the steepest slopes.

MEGA-9 power unit

• The 9-speed sprocket cassette gives a close gear ratio without compromising the gear range.

MEGA-9 LITE

• This system has three features:
  
  • Optimal gear ratio for each wheel size - the larger the wheel, the greater the range of cassettes necessary to maintain light pedaling.
  • Advanced front shifting system - gear combinations adapted to each wheel size to reduce the number of corrective rear shift shifts with a small front shift.
