L-carnitine

L-carnitine is a vitamin-like nutrient consisting of the two amino acids lysine and methionine.
L-carnitine plays an important role in fat metabolism. Fatty acids can only be transported across L-carnitine-bound mitochondrial membranes. L-carnitine is therefore used both in conjunction with diet and endurance sports. Athletes need fatty acids for energy use, but also take L-Carnitine to aid recovery.

L-carnitine is absorbed mainly by meat (Latin: carne: meat). Vegetarian or vegan diets or other diets low in meat result in a much lower muscle carnitine content, and then additional L-carnitine intake may be considered.

Functional ingredients

L-carnitine (from CarniPure®) supports low-intensity training, and choline and zinc contribute to the proper metabolism of fats. Iron helps reduce fatigue and exhaustion.
