Energy+Caffeine Gel is a gel with a clever 2:1 ratio between glucose and fructose. Glucose (also known as dextrose) is the most important source of fuel for our body. Therefore, the ratio between glucose and fructose must be well chosen. With a normal diet, you can convert a maximum of around 60 grams of sugar into energy per hour. With a 2:1 ratio between glucose and fructose, the conversion rate can increase to 90 grams. Your body will have more energy available for exercise.

Eurosport Nutrition has deliberately chosen a concentrated gel that consists of a 'thicker' substance, so to speak, than many other gels containing water. The consistency of the Eurosport gel forces athletes to hold it in their mouths for a while. Enzymes in the saliva already start the digestion processes of complex sugars in the mouth. Digestion is completed in the small intestine. Digestion is necessary to obtain energy from the rapidly available glucose.
