Technologies used:
Vectran ™ anti-puncture technology
- The benchmark in puncture protection Vectran ™ is a synthetically produced fiber inspired by nature. Like the spider's thread, Vectran ™ is a liquid crystal polymer [LCP] spun from a Vectra liquid polymer melt and further processed to make a special yarn. Like a spider's thread, it has enormous tear strength and a very low weight. These are the ideal features of the material that we use in Continental's premium bicycle tires as a puncture protection insert. Vectran ™ Breaker is lighter, more flexible and protects against cuts more effectively than comparable nylon braids without compromising rolling resistance.
BlackChili Compound
- A unique rubber compound, produced only in Germany, that revolutionized bicycle tires! The BlackChili Compound tire used in the high-end tires is a compromise between grip and rolling resistance. The numerous test victories prove the tangible benefits. The latest polymer compounds, microscopic soot particles and optimal fillers guarantee a unique performance - from downhill to road tires! BlackChili Compound reduces rolling resistance by 26% and provides 30% more grip than silicate compounds. BlackChili tires also have higher mileage and, which is rarely seen in tires with advanced compounds, their properties remain the same from the first to the last kilometer.
